With its industrial and port corridor from central İzmit to Gebze, Dilovası, Gölcük, Körfez, Başiskele, Darıca and Çayırova, Kocaeli moves a huge volume of documents and samples every day. Two developments are shaping delivery plans in the province this week: an 18-hour motorcycle and scooter ban announced by the Kocaeli Governorate because of heavy rain (yellow alert), and the fuel update that reached the pumps on 3 November. For motorcycle and car jobs over 5 km the formula is simple: TRY 288 + (road km − 5) × TRY 57.60. For example, the Clock Tower to Derince is 8.42 km by road, so you pay 288 + 3.42 × 57.60 = TRY 484.99. We do not assign jobs longer than 1 km to walking couriers or longer than 3 km to bicycle and scooter couriers; beyond those limits no price is shown and the system points you to a motorcycle or car.
Parcel size matters too. Walking, bicycle and scooter couriers carry up to 5 desi, motorcycles up to 40 desi and cars up to 150 desi. Desi is length × width × height (cm) / 3000. For sample crates leaving the industrial zones or several boxes together, a car courier is usually the only sensible choice.

Kocaeli stretches east to west along the gulf: from central İzmit west towards Derince, Körfez, Dilovası and Gebze; south towards Gölcük and Başiskele; east towards Kartepe and Cengiz Topel Airport. - In the centre, walk. The Clock Tower to the train station is only 0.45 km on foot, to SEKAPARK 0.79 km; TRY 144 each.
- The courthouse is bicycle territory. The cycling route is 1.89 km, under 3 km, so a TRY 216 bicycle or scooter courier is enough (walking is 1.82 km, over the 1 km walking limit).
- Gölcük shows the gulf effect. 9.85 km as the crow flies, 18.91 km by road: TRY 1,089.22.

This week in Kocaeli: an 18-hour motorcycle ban and fuel prices
According to IHA's report on 4 November and Milliyet's same-day coverage, the Kocaeli Governorate banned motorcycles, scooters, e-scooters and motorcycle couriers from traffic between 12:00 on 4 November 2026 and 06:00 on 5 November 2026 because of heavy rain (yellow alert). The ban lasts about 18 hours.
On fuel, Kocaeli Gazetesi reported on 3 November petrol at TRY 80.90 and diesel at TRY 100.80 in the province; Çağdaş Kocaeli's LPG update put the litre at TRY 49.90 (1 November excise change plus the 3 November LPG rise). Fuel is one of the biggest costs for motorcycle and car couriers, yet as of the day this article was published we have not changed our tariff; any update appears on our calculator page first.
- During the ban, choose walking, bicycle or car instead of a motorcycle. Walking under 1 km, bicycle under 3 km; for longer or heavier parcels the car option stays open.
- Time and vehicle type change, price does not. We add no surcharge for the ban or the rain.
- Allow time on the İzmit–Gebze–Dilovası corridor. Congestion on the D-100 and TEM can add a few minutes around industrial shift changes.

Central İzmit: Clock Tower, train station, SEKAPARK
Banks, the courthouse area, the waterfront and small traders generate most short-distance document and parcel traffic. Inside the centre a walking courier is cheapest; up to the courthouse a bicycle or scooter courier is the economical option.
