Heavy parcel shipping prices in Turkey are under pressure from two sides this autumn. First, PTT's new tariff, in force since 1 October 2026, adds a TRY 4,500 "heavy-load fee" to any parcel above 100 kg/desi. Second, diesel: while petrol was cut twice in a row, on 22 October diesel stayed at TRY 96.80 per litre in Istanbul. If you ship furniture, appliances, spare parts, machinery or wholesale goods, picking the wrong channel above 50 desi can mean paying two or three times more for the same load. In this guide we use current tariffs to show you how to send heavy shipments the right way – and the cheaper way.
In short
- PTT's 1 October 2026 tariff adds TRY 4,500 to parcels above 100 kg/desi (TRY 4,000 before). An intercity 100-desi parcel costs TRY 3,220; at 101 desi it jumps to TRY 7,750.
- Above 30 desi, every extra desi at PTT adds TRY 20 in the same city and TRY 30 intercity.
- On Hepsiburada's contracted tariff of 5 October (VAT excluded), 100 desi ranges from TRY 1,124.48 to TRY 3,122.29 – about 2.8 times for the same box.
- Diesel was TRY 96.80 in Istanbul (European side) on 22 October 2026, so cost pressure on heavy transport continues.
- Above 50 desi, comparing parcel, groupage and vehicle offers side by side saves the most.

What counts as a heavy parcel? Why 30, 50 and 100 desi matter

In Turkey, shipping is charged by "chargeable weight": the higher of the real weight in kilograms and the volumetric weight, called desi. Desi is length × width × height in centimetres divided by 3,000. A light but bulky box can therefore cost more than a small heavy one. We explain the formula and small-parcel prices in our Shipping Prices 2026 guide; here we focus on the heavy end.
There is no official definition of a "heavy parcel", but three thresholds stand out in the tariffs:
- 30 desi: where fixed brackets end in many tariffs; after this, a set amount is added per extra desi.
- 50 desi: where freight companies start competing with parcel carriers – and the line above which we built the Jetbee Logistics Marketplace.
- 100 desi: the critical line. In PTT's individual tariff, single pieces above it carry a TRY 4,500 heavy-load fee and become branch pickups.
A quick example: a 80 × 60 × 65 cm box is 104 desi and crosses the line. Fit the same product into an 80 × 60 × 62 cm box and you drop to about 99.2 desi. Three centimetres can remove thousands of lira from a PTT individual-tariff shipment.
Heavy parcel prices 2026: current tariffs for 50–200 desi
We looked at two tariffs: PTT's counter tariff that applies to everyone (VAT included) and a marketplace's contracted tariff for its sellers (VAT excluded). They are not directly comparable, but together they show how wide the gap becomes for heavy items.
PTT individual tariff: what happens above 100 desi?
According to PTT's postal tariff dated 1 October 2026, a 30 kg/desi parcel costs TRY 750 in the same city and TRY 1,120 intercity. Each extra desi then adds TRY 20 and TRY 30 respectively. A footnote holds the key rule: parcels above 100 kg/desi pay an additional TRY 4,500 heavy-load fee, up from TRY 4,000 in the February 2026 tariff. We calculated the table below from the unit prices:
| Chargeable weight | Same city | Intercity | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 kg/desi | TRY 750 | TRY 1,120 | February 2026 tariff: TRY 675 / TRY 1,000 |
| 50 kg/desi | TRY 1,150 | TRY 1,720 | Above 30: +TRY 20 / +TRY 30 per desi |
| 75 kg/desi | TRY 1,650 | TRY 2,470 | Delivered to the building door (31–100) |
| 100 kg/desi | TRY 2,150 | TRY 3,220 | No heavy-load fee yet |
| 101 kg/desi | TRY 6,670 | TRY 7,750 | +TRY 4,500 heavy-load fee, branch pickup |
| 150 kg/desi | TRY 7,650 | TRY 9,220 | +TRY 4,500 heavy-load fee, branch pickup |
The striking row is the step from 100 to 101 desi: TRY 3,220 becomes TRY 7,750 for a single extra desi. Contract customers are subject to their own PTT agreements; this table is for people paying list prices at the counter.
Marketplace contracted tariff: same box, three times the price
Hepsiburada's contracted shipping tariff valid from 5 October 2026 lists 11 carriers up to 4,500 desi. We filtered 50 desi and above:
| Desi | Cheapest | Second cheapest | Most expensive | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | Aras Kargo – TRY 571.57 | hepsiJET – TRY 604.99 | DHL Kargo – TRY 1,322.79 | ≈2.3× |
| 75 | hepsiJET XL – TRY 844.39 | Aras Kargo – TRY 848.03 | DHL Kargo – TRY 2,222.54 | ≈2.6× |
| 100 | Aras Kargo – TRY 1,124.48 | hepsiJET XL – TRY 1,125.85 | DHL Kargo – TRY 3,122.29 | ≈2.8× |
| 150 | Aras Kargo – TRY 1,638.89 | Kolay Gelsin – TRY 1,730.44 | DHL Kargo – TRY 4,808.78 | ≈2.9× |
| 200 | Aras Kargo – TRY 2,179.11 | Kolay Gelsin – TRY 2,280.44 | DHL Kargo – TRY 6,566.97 | ≈3.0× |
Three takeaways. First, the gap between cheapest and dearest widens with size, from 2.3× at 50 desi to 3× at 200 desi. Second, heavy-freight carriers such as hepsiJET XL and Horoz Lojistik charge a flat floor on small items: hepsiJET XL TRY 675.51 up to 60 desi, Horoz Lojistik TRY 752.02 up to 44 desi. They are expensive for a 10-desi box but among the most competitive at 60–100 desi. Third, standard hepsiJET stops at 60 desi; bigger items move to the XL service. In short, the winner changes in every desi band. We ran the same comparison for small parcels in Which Is the Cheapest Cargo Company?
Why fuel hits heavy shipments harder
Heavy loads fill a vehicle quickly, so each shipment carries a bigger share of the fuel bill. Bigpara's fuel report of 22 October 2026 notes that petrol was cut by TRY 4.30 on 20 October and TRY 3.35 on 22 October, while diesel did not change: TRY 96.80 on Istanbul's European side and TRY 96.60 on the Asian side. In a 22 October report by İş'te Mersin, a Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry council member responsible for logistics names diesel as the sector's largest cost, saying bulk-purchase discounts have disappeared and staff costs are rising fast. Savings will come from choosing the right channel, not from waiting for prices to fall.
Are heavy parcels delivered to the door? Delivery rules and hidden costs
The answer depends on the carrier. PTT's tariff spells it out for individual customers:
- 0–30 kg/desi single pieces are delivered to the floor.
- 31–100 kg/desi single pieces are delivered to the building door.
- Above 100 kg/desi, single pieces are accepted as branch pickups.
Two more details: parcels to or from Büyükada, Heybeliada, Kınalıada and Burgazada cannot exceed 20 kg, and returns or re-sending cost 30% of the acceptance fee – about TRY 966 for a 100-desi intercity parcel. With freight firms, kerbside, ramp or in-home delivery may be priced separately, so confirm "door, floor or branch?" in writing before you accept a quote.
Parcel carrier, groupage freight or a vehicle?

Above 50 desi there are three main routes. Contracted parcel carriers are still often the simplest and cheapest for single pieces up to 100 desi. Groupage freight – sharing a truck with other shippers on the same route – wins for pallets and loads of several hundred kilograms: you pay only for the space you use. Vehicle transport is right for several pallets, furniture or machinery, or loads that must arrive the same day; you can get vehicle-based offers on our Moving & Transport Marketplace.
| Shipment profile | Best-fit channel | How it is priced | Watch out for | Where on Jetbee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single box, 30–50 desi | Contracted parcel carrier | Desi brackets | Prices climb faster after desi 31 | Parcel price comparison |
| 50–100 desi, one or a few boxes | Parcel or freight company | Desi brackets or minimum fee + desi | Freight firms may charge a flat minimum on small items | Logistics Marketplace |
| Over 100 desi, palletised | Groupage (LTL) freight | By kg, desi, m³ or pallet | Delivery type (door, ramp, depot) must be in the quote | Logistics Marketplace |
| Several pallets, furniture, machinery | Vehicle transport (van, light truck, truck) | Vehicle type and distance | Loading/unloading may be priced separately | Moving & Transport Marketplace |
| Same city, same day, medium weight | Car courier | By distance | On-foot and bicycle couriers do not suit heavy loads | Express courier request |
Couriers can also carry some heavy items within a city, but the vehicle type matters. At Jetbee we assign on-foot couriers jobs of up to 1 km, and bicycle, e-bike and e-scooter couriers jobs of up to 3 km – they are meant for light parcels anyway. Our motorcycle and car couriers have no distance limit; medium and bulky items go to car couriers, larger loads to our van and light-truck carriers.
Do not tie your 50+ desi shipments to a single company. On the Jetbee Logistics Marketplace you get offers with discounts of up to 80% from more than 8 contracted firms, including Horoz Lojistik, Sürat Lojistik, PTT and Jetbee Lojistik. For pallets and project loads: 0850 307 98 65
7 ways to cut the cost of heavy shipments

- Measure before you ship: calculate the desi to the centimetre; if you are close to 30, 50 or especially 100, look for a smaller box.
- Compare splitting and combining: two medium boxes sometimes avoid the heavy-load fee, sometimes cost more overall. Price both.
- Palletise: stacking many boxes on a stretch-wrapped pallet can lower both price and damage risk with freight firms.
- Do not ship air: an oversized box inflates the desi you pay for. Use packaging close to the product size.
- Choose the delivery type upfront: PTT gives 5% off the acceptance fee for branch or Kargomat delivery, while a failed doorstep delivery of a heavy box costs far more.
- Use contracted rather than list prices: the tables show a big gap; a marketplace opens contracted rates to small businesses too.
- Ask how long a quote is valid: diesel can change weekly, so get the price and delivery time in writing.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to ship a heavy parcel in Turkey?
It varies widely by carrier, channel and desi. Under PTT's individual tariff of 1 October 2026, a 50-desi intercity parcel costs TRY 1,720 and a 100-desi parcel TRY 3,220; above 100, a TRY 4,500 heavy-load fee is added. On a marketplace's contracted tariff the same 100 desi starts at TRY 1,124 before VAT, so always compare quotes first.
How do I ship a parcel over 50 desi?
Measure the box and calculate its desi, then get prices from both parcel carriers and freight companies. Single pieces up to 100 desi are carried by most parcel networks; for bigger or palletised loads, groupage freight is usually the better choice. On the Jetbee Logistics Marketplace we collect quotes from contracted firms for shipments over 50 desi.
Are heavy parcels delivered to the door?
It depends on the carrier and the weight. Under PTT's 1 October 2026 tariff, single pieces of 0–30 kg/desi from individual customers are delivered to the floor, 31–100 kg/desi to the building door, and anything above 100 kg/desi must be collected from the branch. With other carriers, ask for the delivery type in writing when you get the quote.
What is groupage (partial load) freight?
Groupage means your goods share a truck with other shippers' loads on the same route because they do not fill a vehicle alone. You pay for the space you use, which is cheaper than hiring a full truck, although collection and transfer steps can add some time. It suits pallets and shipments of several hundred kilograms.
How long does heavy parcel delivery take?
There is no fixed time; the carrier, distance and channel decide. Heavy parcels in a parcel network can travel close to normal transit times, but separate handling at hubs raises the risk of delay. In groupage freight, consolidating the load can take time. Always ask for the delivery time in writing in the quote.
